1. Frequent tepid baths are very well tolerated by most patients. Added powders or chemicals are not needed.
2. Bathing time – 30-60 minutes.
3. When first beginning withdrawal, even these tepid baths can burn and irritate the skin especially in the pediatric patient, but must try.
4. Icepacks to “hot areas” are very helpful.
5. Vaseline, though greasy is the most tolerated lubricant at the beginning of withdrawal.
